WRITING A GOOD CONCLUSION

1. SUMMARISE THE OPINION THEY HAVE EXPRESSED IN THE ESSAY

2. INCLUDE A COMMENT TO THE OPINION ; DESCRIBING WHAT COULD HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE.


TASK:

1(a) Complete the summaries with the words in the orange box.

 Read the given opinions and complete each summary/concluding paragraph with one of the three words.

1(b) Discuss what comment they could make on each one.

    Suggested comments :

     1. People should make an effort to close windows and lock doors when they are out to reduce the risk of someone breaking in.

People can also install a burglar alarm which will help to discourage people from breaking in.

Think about the future and what might or could happen and you can use modal verbs to write the comments.


2. Circle the correct words to complete the statement.

     Is downloading music/movies etc  from the internet illegal/ legal?

     Is this a good thing or  a bad thing for the music industry?


3. Read the essay (answer to question 2)  and the two final paragraphs.

Which final paragraph answers the task questions and summarises the writer's opinion.

TASK: COPY THE ESSAY AND COPY ALSO THE CORRECT FINAL PARAGRAPH (CHOOSE EITHER A OR B)
